7.0-magnitude Earthquake Was Reported Off Northern California Coast
The US Geological Survey reported a 7.0-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Northern California on Thursday. The USGS said that the "strong" quake struck off the coast of Petrolia in Humboldt County.
Furthermore, a tsunami warning for coastal California and Oregon, including San Francisco, was withdrawn soon before noon local time.
Northern California Shaken by a 7.0-magnitude Earthquake
"The tsunami warning has been canceled for the coastal areas of California and Oregon," the National Tsunami Warning Center stated on X. "No tsunami danger presently exists for this area."
The National Tsunami Warning Center claimed that the warning ranged from Davenport, California, to Douglas/Lane Line, Oregon.
According to the USGS, at least 55 aftershocks were recorded following the main 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Some of them registered higher than 4.0.
Although there were no reports of major damage or injuries in the Bay Area, the 7.0 earthquake had an impact on local businesses further north, near the epicenter.
