Officials: At Least Ten People Were Dead Due to Hurricane Milton
On Thursday, rescue crews rescued Florida citizens from the flotsam of Hurricane Milton, which blasted over coastal villages, tearing homes apart, filling streets with muck, and unleashing a volley of deadly tornadoes. At least 10 people had died.
Arriving barely two weeks after Hurricane Helene's devastation, the system knocked out electricity to more than 3 million people, flooded barrier islands, ripped the roof off a baseball stadium, and collapsed a construction crane.
Hurricane Milton rescuers save a lonely boy
Among the most spectacular rescues, Hillsborough County officers discovered a 14-year-old boy floating on a piece of fence and put him into a boat.
Besides, a Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a man who was clinging to an ice chest in the Gulf of Mexico after his fishing boat became trapped in seas roiled by Hurricane Milton.
According to the agency, the man braved winds of 75 to 90 mph (121 to 145 kph) and waves up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) high during his night on the water.
