Storm Ashley: Flights Cancelled & River Mersey Flood Alerts Issued

Storm Ashley has prompted amber and yellow weather warnings for parts of the United Kingdom. According to the Met Office, the first named storm of the season "will bring a spell of very strong winds, probably causing some disruption on Sunday".

The amber warning is in effect until the end of the day and affects sections of western Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

Meanwhile, a yellow warning is in effect for sections of West Wales, large swathes of Scotland, and parts of Northern England.

Flooding is expected in low-lying areas and roads from 2 am tomorrow at the following locations: 

  • Seacombe Promenade - peaking around 2 am

  • Wallasey Dock - peaking around 2 am

  • Rock Park - peaking around 2.15 am

  • Hale Village - peaking around 2.30 am

The weather has forced the cancellation of flights. Passengers affected by these cancellations have been alerted via email of their reroute or refund options.

Furthermore, Aer Lingus has canceled the following flights from Manchester Airport:

  • 4.15 pm Aer Lingus flight EI3615 to Belfast (Belfast City Airport)

  • 5.25 pm Aer Lingus flight EI3327 to Dublin

  • 7.40 pm Aer Lingus flight EI3619 to Belfast (Belfast City Airport)

  • 8.55 pm Aer Lingus flight EI3329 to Dublin
