Photos Show Seoul Blanketed by Heaviest November Snow on Record
The snowfall in Seoul was the third-heaviest since records began in 1907, according to Yonhap news agency, citing city-data.
"It's been snowing a lot today," remarked 73-year-old Lee Sook-ja as she ate soup at Namdaemun market, one of Seoul's largest. "It's freezing and chilly, but having a cup of hot fish cake soup really helps warm me up."
By Thursday morning, more than 40 cm (16 inches) of snow had accumulated in areas of Seoul, prompting the cancellation of more than 140 flights, though weather officials later canceled heavy snow warnings in the city's metropolitan region.

Since Wednesday, Yonhap has recorded at least five snowfall-related deaths in the province of Gyeonggi, which borders Seoul.
Four people were killed when structures collapsed under the weight of snow, and one was killed in a traffic accident when a bus skidded on an ice road.
According to police, 11 people were injured Wednesday evening in a 53-vehicle pile-up on a highway in Gangwon province's central city of Wonju.
